Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Adult Physical Health team. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of settings including acute hospital wards, rehabilitation services, community teams and patients’ homes, supporting adults with a wide range of physical health needs.

Main duties of the job

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, person-centred assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and discharge planning, enabling individuals to maximise their independence and quality of life. You will manage your own caseload, use evidence-based practice and work collaboratively with patients, families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

The post also offers opportunities to contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and the supervision and development of Occupational Therapy students, assistants and junior staff.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum Qualification:
  • Registered Health or Social Care Professional (e.g. Registered Nurse with the NMC, Social Worker with SWE registration, Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration etc)

Desirable

  • Key Criteria:
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of HSCs CARE Values.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own workload and that of others.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deal with complex and challenging situations in a calm and diplomatic manner.
  • The ability to work autonomously and also as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • The ability to supervise and support junior unregistered care and support staff.
  • Experience in a community, social care or residential/nursing home setting.
  • Punctual and reliable.
