The post holder will work within Talking Changes, supporting the provision of high volume, low intensity interventions through a range of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. Successful candidates will receive excellent support in their role, including extensive clinical and caseload supervision. You will extend the range of effective treatment and support available to people with common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. You may be required to work late evenings up until 8pm up to three times depending on the needs of the service.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills, will have experience of working with people who have experienced mental health difficulties, have experience of working in a support worker/ health care assistant / counselling role with experience of working within mental health settings.

Main duties of the job

Support in the delivery of Online Welbeing Courses, working alongside qualified PWP’s to provide psychoeducational information to patients presenting with common mental health problems.

You will also be expected to provide clerical and adminstrative assistance to the PWP’s to ensure Microsoft Teams Live events have been set up and patients have been sent invites and supporting with any technical difficulties

In addition to the above, you will be required to conduct waiting list review calls with patients, highlighting any difficulties they may be experiencing around fluctuation in risk. As part of this process you will be expected to liaise appropriately with duty workers and senior clinicians to ensure appropriate action is taken to address any concerns which might arise.

Talking Changes is a well established Improving access to psychological therapies (IAPT) service and has been providing psychological interventions to those residing in the County Durham and Darlington area since 2010. We are a joint venture of three experienced local and national providers of psychological therapies with a strong track record of success. It is led by Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust in collaboration with Mental Health Matters (MHM) and Sunderland Counselling Service (SCS).

The service has continued to develop new and innovative ways of supporting those patients presenting with common mental health difficulties, forming strong links with other supporting services in the area

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Good standard of education, including numeracy and literacy

Desirable

  • A health, psychology or social care foundation qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with adult mental health or similar vulnerable group
  • Experience of offering individual support to clients
  • Experience of undertaking assessments including risk assessment.
  • Experience of team working.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a health or social care setting.
