Job Summary

Applications are invited for the role of Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in the Emergency Department at Hull Royal Infirmary. We are keen to hear from forward thinking and experienced practitioners with a desire to provide high quality patient care.

The training programme comprises undertaking the MSc Advanced Practice at The University of Hull (inclusive of the Independent and Supplementary Prescribing module) and completion of a work-based portfolio of practice which supports work across all pillars of advanced practice. You will be afforded weekly non-clinical time to allow portfolio creation and you will benefit from attending bespoke weekly trainee ACP teaching within the department.

You will be allocated a consultant supervisor for the duration of your training and linked with a qualified ACP to provide additional support. You will experience training across all areas of the Emergency Department, to include both adult and paediatric environments. You will be supported to spend time in specialty areas outside of the Emergency Department to enhance your knowledge.

Main duties of the job

Upon successful completion of the training you will be awarded Band 8a position, joining the qualified ACP rota, working across all areas of the department. Working hours will cover 24/7 rotation to include early, late and night shifts 7 days a week.

Working patterns during training are predominantly within the hours of Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm;to ensure you gain relevant clinical experience and receive adequate and appropriate supervision with view to upholding patient safety. Some out of hours work will be expected as training progresses to ensure exposure to a 24/7 working pattern.

Please note; these are full time (37.5hrs) training posts with a training time of 3 years. Successful applicants with prior relevant experience/academic modules may have a bespoke training pathway created.

Essential and desireable

Essential

  • Professional registration with regulatory body with ability to prescribe
  • Academic award of health related degree at 2:2 or above
  • Evidence of ongoing relevant CPD
  • Significant post-registration experience in an acute secondary care or pre-hospital environment
  • Evidence of recent mentorship/teaching/supervision
  • Experience of audit/research

Desirable

  • MSc advanced practice or Level 7 module
  • Independent and supplementary prescribing qualification
  • Life support course (e.g. ALS)
  • Leadership qualification/development
