Trainee Advanced Practitioner Radiographer: Sponsorship Available

This is an exciting opportunity for a Radiographer to extend their role in Fluoroscopy and Barium Studies. You must be passionate and adaptable to the ever-changing demands on our services.

We welcome Applications from Radiographers that have completed the PgC in Advanced Medical Imaging in GI studies (Barium Swallows) and can evidence the required competency for independent practice or alternatively, those who wish to progress and complete the required study to achieve this.

You, without prior Qualification, will train as a Band 6 Radiographer and be required to complete PgC in Advanced Medical Imaging in GI studies (Barium Swallows) over 12 months, in a supervised capacity until competent to undertake autonomous practice, dedicated barium screening sessions and reporting of the studies within protocol. On completion of the PgC/relevant training, and all Band 7 competencies, you will be able to progress to a Band 7 role. If the required competencies/Qualification are not achieved, you would not progress to a Band 7 and remain as a Band 6 until the end of your fixed-term contract.

You will be supported by the current Advance Practitioners team offering a wide range of examinations to both adults and paediatric patients with the opportunity to develop skill into specialist areas as required. You will work across site at both South Tyneside and Sunderland.

 

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge in Fluoroscopy and Barium Studies and join the Advanced Practice Team. You must be adaptable to the ever-changing demands on our services in addition to supporting and developing the skillset of the advanced practice team.

As part of this role, we are offering you a Band 6 training Post with supported post-graduate education in fluoroscopy and specified barium studies. You must be a registered Diagnostic Radiographer, with HCPC registration, significant post-graduate experience and should have a good understanding of GI imaging and anatomy. Experience in fluoroscopy imaging is desirable.

The role will include development to being able to offer specialist advice, competently undertake imaging techniques, planning and prioritising own and departmental workload utilising specialist skills. To be a good example to, and train, radiographers, student radiographers and other healthcare workers and help them to develop into skilled professionals.

You will be committed to the multi-disciplinary team delivering a high-quality and efficient service; and will be required to support the Modality Leads to deliver a consistently high standard of patient care and support service provision.

 

You will participate in audit to ensure high standards and participate in training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Desirable

  • Relevant related courses.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working a Radiology department producing high-quality imaging.
  • Good understanding of Radiation safety.
  • Evidence of CPD.

Desirable

  • Previous, current or planned audit undertaken.
  • Experience using Siemens, AGFA, Carestream, GE equipment.
