We are offering to pay a salary and fund your learning as you work towards gaining a degree in Audiology with Middlesex University. The programme lasts for 3 years and you will have the support of your Manager, the department’s training lead and your colleagues. Your learning will include a blend of theory and practice and will involve both university and self-directed learning.

Once successfully qualified, you are guaranteed a Band 5 post.

For the duration of the 3 year training programme, apprentices will be paid at NHS band 5 (annex 21) pay scale:

Year 1: 65% of the pay band maximum of band 5

Year 2: 70% of the pay band maximum of band 5

Year 3: 75% of the pay band maximum of band 5

 

Main duties of the job

This role is a training position, split across clinical delivery, on-site and off-site learning at Middlesex University. The will involve training at the Basildon and Orsett Hospital as well as training at the various MSE Audiology sites and attending University to complete the academic aspects of the role.

You will support and assist members of the multidisciplinary team in providing high-quality patient-centred Audiology care for patients, relatives and carers within an outpatient setting.

You will ensure patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive by treating all patients, relatives, carers and colleagues with respect, dignity and courtesy in accordance with the values of our Trust and the NHS Constitution.

The role requires full engagement in all aspects of the apprenticeship, including all elements of theory and practice and all tri-partite reviews. The post holder will be required to attend University and must adhere to all University deadlines for submission of work. You will be required to maintain records of all ‘on the job’ learning.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 3 A levels (BBB) including Science or T level/BTEC L3 (see PS)

Desirable

  • Degree in Science Subject
  • Deaf awareness training

Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience working in public facing role

Desirable

  • Experience working in Audiology or setting with people with hearing loss
  • Experience working in health sector
