Job Summary

We would like to appoint a Trainee Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, in their last year of training and prior to qualification, to work in the AMH Neighbourhood Mental Health Services (NMHS) in Wyre Forest. We are a pilot site for the Transformation Model working in the community considering local need and linking with community services.

This is a Band 6, (1.0 w.t.e) fixed term post for 12 months, moving to a Band 7 permanent post upon qualification. We welcome applications for full/part time working. We provide face to face and virtual interventions as clinically appropriate.

The NMHS teams have integrated psychological pathways for individuals with moderate/severe, severe/enduring, psychosis/bipolar and emotionally unstable presentations. The post holder will apply Clinical or Counselling Psychology core values and clinical practice. They will encourage empowered service users to be active in their own recovery and encourage trauma informed care across the NMHS.

 

Main duties of the job

The post is integral to the NMHS, working with other psychologists and mental health professionals. The post holder will be a valued member of the psychology provision within the Trust.

The post holder will be supported to provide psychological assessments leading to the development of psychological formulations and individual and/or group interventions. They will work virtually and face to face as appropriate.

The post holder will be supported to complete their professional training.

The post holder will receive both clinical supervision and line management. Across the service we offer a variety of supervision for evidence-based models and invest in model specific supervision.

 

The post holder will attend all necessary NMHS team meetings and be involved in the NMHS psychology provision professional meetings.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Working towards registration as a Chartered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) by the BPS
  • Working towards registration with HCPC as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
  • BSc/BA Honours degree at 2:1 or above in Psychology
  • In final year of working towards a Post graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology as accredited by the BPS
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

  • Knowledge required specific to the role and clinical area
  • Advanced theoretical and applied knowledge of psychological approaches and assessment for people with psychological problems, including specialised psychological assessments and interventions
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and national guidance and their implications for clinical practice

Experience

Essential

  • Experience required specific to the role and clinical area
  • Experience of multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working
  • Experience of conducting clinically relevant research
  • Experience of supervised practice including working with families and care organisations
  • Experience of assessing and providing a wide range of psychological interventions to a wide range of patients presenting with a full range of clinical severity
  • Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for a patients psychological care and treatment
