Job summary

We are excited to share an opportunity for fixed term Vaccinators to join NPC for the winter vaccination programme, with flexible hours available over the winter period.

Join our vibrant and supportive teams at practices across North Tyneside and Northumberland. There are flexible hours available and a mixture of practice working or community work for our housebound population. You will deliver quality patient care with a warm and caring approach.You must have the relevant training, skills and experience to carry out vaccinations such as flu and covid vaccinations. this role could suit medical students, registered pharmacy staff, registered nursing staff who are looking for some extra work over the winter period.

Hours will be dependant on availability and clinic times.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service for the delivery of vaccinations. The post holder will undertake activities such as clinical assessment, vaccine preparation and administration.In particular, the post holder will be responsible for:o Conducting pre-vaccination clinical assessments.o The review of complex medical histories and potential adverse reactions.o Preparation of the vaccine using aseptic technique.o Administration of the vaccine according to appropriate prescription and guidanceo Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence-based policies and procedures.o Use clinical judgement and risk assessments to keep the patients as safe as possible

Essential

  • It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving license and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a person with disabilities to undertake the role

Qualifications

Essential

  • Specialist knowledge in a relevant subject to degree level
  • Current immunisation training update or willingness to undertake
  • Registered nurse or other equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for NMC registered post holders, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in a similar clinical role/setting
  • Knowledge of immunisation schedules in accordance with national recommendations
  • Practical skills and knowledge of cold chain procedures and medicines management
