Job summary
- Meeting and greeting service users attending outpatient clinics
- Communicating with services users, carers, family members and Health Care Professionals, both face-to-face and via the telephone
- Maintaining appointment diaries and service user records using RiO, electronic data base
- Typing correspondence
- General admin tasks as required
Main duties of the job
East London NHS Foundation Trust are looking to appoint a full-time Ward Administrator for Pluto Ward & Day Service Unit at The Coborn Centre working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
We are looking for a motivated professional with excellent communication and customer care skills to take on this busy, varied role supporting clinical staff and patients in an inpatient setting. The post holder will be an experienced administrator who will act as one of the first points of contact for our patients therefore have outstanding customer service skills.
The post holder will be required to work in a busy and demanding environment and should be able to work without direct supervision, exercise initiative, professionalism and courtesy; as well as have the ability to multi-task at all times.

Education/ Qualification/ Training
Essential
- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Good standard of written and spoken English
Desirable
- English GCSE or NVQ3
Experience
Essential
- Proven experience working as part of an administrative/secretarial team
- Experience of routine office administration including reception duties
Desirable
- Experience of an administrative role in NHS service, preferably mental health.
- Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems (RIO).
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Computer Literacy including (MS Office)
- Data entry skills;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- An understanding of general office procedures.
- Ability to prioritise workload, and plan and organise own time effectively;
- Exercise own judgment when dealing with enquiries from patients, parents/carers or other professionals;
- Copy Typing skills (50wpm) Excel Data entry skills
