Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, ambitious, motivated and experienced Radiographer to co-lead the Core Services team. This position is one of two X-ray Operational Lead Radiographers who will be expected to jointly manage the Core Services team. The working hours are 8.45am – 5pm Monday to Friday.The Core Services Department has three digital Siemens x-ray rooms, one Siemens fluoroscopy room, eight digital mobile x-ray systems (7 Carestream and 3 Phillips) and a brand new Xograph dental x-ray room. It is an exciting time as we recently replaced our three x-ray rooms for top of the range of Siemens X.pree systems.Location – St. Bartholomew’s Hospital which is in the heart of the City of London- St. Paul’s.Come and join our friendly and supportive team of Radiographers, where continuous professional development is encouraged. You will be exposed to a wealth of knowledge and experience guided by our expert clinical leads. In addition, you will have the opportunity to use your initiative and to augment your skills and experience.

Applicants for all posts above must hold a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or the Diploma of the College of Radiographers and HCPC registration.

Main duties of the job

We offer a full range of local and specialist services, which include centres for the treatment of cancer, heart conditions, fertility problems, endocrinology, and sexual health conditions. The hospital includes the site of the new state-of-the-art Barts Heart Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Europe’s largest specialised cardiovascular centre. The appropriate candidate will have good general radiographic experience, be resilient, flexible, and able to demonstrate leadership and clinical supervision skills. The post holder will work closely with the Clinical, Radiographic and managerial teams.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or equivalents
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registration
  • Evidence of career-long commitment to CPD

Desirable

  • Student Clinical Assessors Course
  • Radiographers accredited IV cannulation course
  • Postgraduate study in a relevant area

Experience

Essential

  • 2Interventional Radiography experience
  • Up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care
  • Understanding of factors affecting service throughput and quality
  • Completion of preceptorship
  • Leadership and mentoring experience

Desirable

  • Previous experience as Band 7 radiographer
  • Demonstrates ongoing CPD

Knowledge

Essential

  • Clinical and technical expert in Xray modality
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff
  • Ability to cope with work pressures and manage time effectively
  • Ability to cope with conflict and complaints at local level commensurate with Trust policies
  • Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience and circumstances
  • Ability to work using own initiative but also to know when to seek assistance and guidance.
  • Basic computer and keyboard skills.
  • Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis
  • Self-motivated with an ability to motivate others
  • Able to work flexibly based on needs of service.

Desirable

  • Intermediate IT skills.
